This will allow you to quickly install all of your necessary drivers. The most important driver to include is your network adapter, as this will ensure that you can get online and download any other drivers. If you have a prebuilt computer (HP, Dell, Acer, etc.), visit the manufacturer's support site and look up your computer's model. You can usually find the model printed on laptop keyboards, or on a sticker affixed to the bottom or back of the computer.
Complete the installation and load the desktop. After entering the key, Windows 7 will finish installing and you'll eventually be taken to the desktop. If you are using your downgrade rights, there's a good chance that you'll receive an "Activation Failed" message after Windows loads. Select the drive that has Windows 8 installed when prompted.

In the "Drivers" or "Downloads" section of the support site, check for Windows 7 compatible drivers. If there are no Windows 7 drivers available, your hardware may not work correctly after downgrading. If you upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8 Professional, you do not qualify for downgrade rights.
You cannot use any Metro Apps or the App Store when UAC is disabled. If you've gone this far, you can also disable all hot corners so you will not get any of the Windows Charms popups. Just check the Classic Shell and Start8 options to do this. If you do too then to disable UAC, Press Windows key + R to open the Run window. If you install Classic Shell or Stardock's Start8 ($4.99) or similar software then you can have the Start button as it was in Windows 7 and boot directly to the Desktop. You can still play with Metro stuff but it's not forced on you.

I would suggest keeping windows 8 and just install classic shell or Start8. Classic shell is free and Start8 is free to try for 30 days then cost $5. This way you get the look and feel of 7 but with all the benefits of 8.
Regardless of whether you need to get an unused key or not, the general process is the same. I didn't have time to install windows 7 on it, Classic shell worked well enough to get rid of the stupid metro UI. On most Acer systems, you can use the F12 key on boot to select the drive or network from which loading the operating system.

I've used it once at work when i ordered a PC for a client that was spect as windows 7. HP set me windows 8 and didn't have any downgrade paths for me. Yeah my advice to either ignore the home screen or just use it for quick transfers between say email and similar things when needed. My video run through CCCP so it doesn't pop up for that and my desktop i have shortcuts on to just use as with windows 7..Overall i just use it as an improved email UI LOL.
Check for Windows 7 drivers for the piece of hardware you have from that manufacturer. If Windows 7 drivers aren't available, that piece of hardware may not work when you downgrade. Check your version of Windows 8 to see if you qualify for downgrade rights. "Downgrade rights" are designed for businesses and allow you to revert to Windows 7 for free. In order to use the downgrade rights, you'll need to meet a few requirements. The first of these is that you're running Windows 8 Professional.
You can choose to install a new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium instead, but this is different from an upgrade, and does not keep your files, settings and programs. You’ll need to reinstall any programs using the original installation discs or files. To save your files before installing Windows, back them up to an external location such as a CD, DVD, or external hard drive. To install a new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, click the Back button in the upper lefthand corner, and select “Custom ”. Windows 8 machines seem to be locked down pretty damned tight. Enter the Windows 7 Professional key you found when prompted.

There are plenty of guides out there to learn Windows 8 and who knows, once you are familiar with it you may like it lol. The process for this will vary depending on your computer. Many computers will display a "BOOT" key during startup that will allow you to select a drive to boot from.
